Profile / Experience
I am a Consultant Children Law Solicitor with Duncan Lewis and practice in Luton and throughout the South East.
I advise both privately funded and publicly funded (legal aid) clients throughout the South East on a broad range of children matters and regularly undertake my own advocacy. I specialise in advising parents on disputes concerning the arrangements for children, (formerly known as contact and residence disputes), and the range of orders available to them and regularly represents clients in private law children’s proceedings. I also act in cases with an international element and a career highlight for me was being involved in acting for a client in the Court of Appeal case of Re R (a child) 2013 EWCA Civ 1115.
I advise and represent parents and other family members in cases involving social services and in public law care proceedings. My cases involve complex issues such as drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence, neglect, mental health issues and learning disabilities. I am known for representing my clients attentively and with sensitivity. I am skilled at representing vulnerable clients in domestic violence cases and I have a particular interest in this area. I am passionate about access to justice and regularly advise clients at pro bono clinics and surgeries.
I have previous extensive background in immigration, asylum and human rights and worked in a supervisory capacity at the Immigration Advisory Service and an East London immigration firm, as well as a period spent at the Refugee Legal Centre. I also previously worked in an advisory role at the Charity Commission.
