Profile / Experience

I am a Solicitor in the Private/Business Immigration Department at Duncan Lewis having joined the firm in September 2016.

I regularly assist clients in a wide range of immigration, asylum and human rights matters. Within the private immigration team I work on a number of cases, including; entry clearance applications; right to work checks; Points Based System applications - Tier 1, 2, and 4; assisting and advising high net worth individuals on compliance issues in relation to sponsorship management systems; EEA applications; and naturalisation applications. I regularly handle further leave to remain applications, applications under the EU Settlement Scheme; representations against deportation; nationality issues including nationality review applications, and immigration appeals including deportation appeals. I also assist companies with Tier 2 applications, and have recently handled Windrush applications.

I have worked on asylum matters, including initial asylum claims, fresh claims, appeals, and judicial reviews. I represent clients with their cases at the First-tier Tribunal and Upper Tribunal of the Immigration Asylum Chamber and also in both the High Court and Court of Appeal. Many of the judicial review cases I work on challenge the decisions of the Home Office, notable examples include;
  • A failure to provide clients with Asylum Accommodation prior to release from detention
  • Unlawful detention
  • Breach of confidentiality
  • Lawfulness of the European Economic Area (EEA) Regulations
  • Removals under the Dublin III Regulations
  • Cases involving victims of torture
I am Level 2 Accredited under the Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme. This means I have demonstrated the required level of competence and specialist knowledge in Immigration and Asylum law as defined by the Law Society and allows me to advise and assist both private paying and publicly funded clients.

Prior to joining Duncan Lewis my experience consisted primarily of Immigration law, assisting clients with private immigration and EEA applications.
