Profile / Experience
I am a Caseworker in the Immigration department at the Duncan Lewis Leicester branch. I work with a dedicated team of solicitors, caseworkers and trainees under the supervision of Director, Alexis Masolo.
As a caseworker my role involves assisting the team with the day-to-day case progression and client/third party correspondence in cases across a variety of publicly funded immigration, asylum and human rights matters in particular asylum appeals, immigration detention bail applications and challenging unlawful Home Office immigration related decisions by way of judicial review. Many of the clients that I assist receive legal aid funding for the legal services that they receive and have a number of vulnerabilities or safeguarding issues, from unaccompanied asylum-seeking children to victims of torture, and victims of human trafficking.
Before joining Duncan Lewis I worked at Burton and Burton Solicitors where I handled cases of a similar nature. I also have previous experience in handling private immigration matters such as EEA (European Economic Area) applications, spouse visas and entry clearance applications. Some highlights in my career so far include assisting a niche firm in the enquiry regarding children cared for by the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire councils.
Prior to joining Duncan Lewis Solicitors I developed my knowledge and experience of immigration-related matters by assisting with immigration cases on a pro bono basis for the Citizens Advice Bureau.
