In February 2024 Emily obtained a Level 2 qualification in Understanding Autism whereby she enhanced her skills and knowledge surrounding autism and the different ways in which this can affect individuals. Emily learnt about the best practice relating to Autism Spectrum Conditions and now regularly considers how she can implement this in practice. Emily is able to assist clients who are neurodivergent, have learning difficulties or any additional needs.
Emily is able to tailor her approach to each individual client’s needs through establishing which methods of communication are best for the client, for example, a particular font or colour for the text within email correspondence. Emily also has experience of assisting clients who are parents to children with additional needs and have worked collaboratively with other professionals to ensure the best outcome for the children is achieved, whilst considering the additional needs of the children.
Emily is passionate to ensure that parents and children who are neurodiverse feel included and valued and respected within court proceedings. Given the nature of Family Proceedings, it is important for Emily to ensure her clients have a clear understanding of the concerns raised by professionals and what action parents are required to take to address the same. Emily feels by undertaking the qualification she has, she has educated herself to provide her client’s the relevant support in a way that she will be understood.
