Anti-Social Behaviour

Anti-Social Behaviour

Anti-social behaviour can include a wide range of activities and matters, from intentionally causing damage to a property (criminal damage) to verbally abusing another neighbour, tenant or resident. If a neighbour or someone within your neighbourhood is behaving in an anti-social way and is having a negative impact on your daily life you may be able to take legal action against them.

Some examples of anti-social behaviour that you can take legal action against include;

  • Abusive language
  • Animal waste left in public
  • Bullying
  • Criminal Damage
  • Drug related activities
  • Drunken behaviour
  • Fly-tipping
  • Gang activities
  • Harassment
  • Noise
  • Physical abuse
  • Racial Abuse
  • Refuge
  • Uncontrolled animals
  • Vandalism
  • Verbal abuse
  • Violence

Anti-social behaviour can be extremely distressing and stressful and in some instances police intervention may be required. Being called names, having your property damaged and graffiti or refuse left in public areas can all be intimidating and result in a fearful atmosphere among residents.

Get in Touch

At Duncan Lewis solicitors we believe that it is vitally important to get in touch sooner rather than later in order to discuss anti-social behaviour issues, so that we can take action to protect you from further harassment and resolve the problem for good. If someone has accused you of antisocial behaviour, our housing lawyers may be able to help you. We will be able to advise you what the nature of the allegation against you is and how you should conduct yourself in order to have it lifted.

We are also able to offer alternatives to legal action such as dispute resolution and mediation. We regularly advise clients on taking action against anti-social behaviour – and can also advise if the police need to be involved if physical violence has been threatened or the perpetrators have been verbally abusive or threatening.

If you are concerned about anti-social behaviour in your neighbourhood or someone has accused you of anti-social behaviour, do not hesitate to contact one of our dedicated Housing solicitors at Duncan Lewis as soon as possible on 033 3772 0409
