I am a Solicitor in the Child Care department at Duncan Lewis Solicitors, having joined in September 2020. I am based in the Shepherd's Bush office and work under the supervision of solicitor and director Genet Amare. I work within a team of solicitors, caseworkers and trainees primarily involved in all areas of child care law including public law children work, namely care proceedings, child protection conferences and PLO outlines.
My expertise in public child care law includes assisting vulnerable clients with learning difficulties, substance and alcohol misuse and victims of domestic abuse. I have assisted in child care cases representing parents in cases of emotional or physical neglect and sexual abuse.
I also represent parents, family members and children as parties to applications for private child arrangement orders, specific issue orders and prohibited steps orders.
Domestic Abuse and Violence
I regularly assist victims of domestic abuse to obtain legal aid and represent them in an applications for Non-Molestation Orders, Occupation Orders or Protection from Harassment Orders. These types of applications are often urgent in nature when there is a risk of ongoing harm to the victim and they serve the purpose to prevent the perpetrator of domestic violence from harassing or approaching near the victim and can also serve to protect against domestic violence against children.
