Alexandra O Shaughnessy-Tredwell

I am a Caseworker in the family department at Duncan Lewis Solicitors. I have gained experience in a wide variety of complex and multi-faceted cases since I joined the company in October 2020.

I work with clients that are in vulnerable positions and turn to us for help. I am experienced and willing to act under the pressures of time and emotion, both of which play a crucial role in the handling of many family law matters.

I have experience in dealing with a broad range of clients thanks to my previous voluntary work which I have transferred into my role here at Duncan Lewis. I particularly specialise in care work within the family department, ensuring that families are all given a fair opportunity to have their voices heard in such important matters.

• Master of Law (LLM): 'The protections afforded to people in the workplace differ depending on the status they hold, notably "employee", "worker" or "self-employed". However, establishing the correct employment status for an individual is becoming increasingly complex as ways of working change. The growth of the gig economy and the reluctance of many businesses to employ staff on the traditional "employee" basis has meant that the volume of litigation in this area is increasing.' (Pending)

• I am a keen charity worker and enjoy volunteering. Outside of my career, I aim to support four charities a year and have done so since 2017. I do this through a variety of ways: 'spinathons' , a half marathon, a sponsored hair cut and of course bake sales. I find fitness is a great way to balance work and life and therefore it plays a large part of my life away from the office.
