Profile / Experience
I am a Trainee Solicitor in the Public Law and Immigration Department at Duncan Lewis Solicitors. I am vastly experienced in these areas and have a passion for upholding human rights. Some of my areas of expertise include; asylum, human rights-based applications (including application for leave to remain/further leave to remain/application to revoke a deportation order); applications for indefinite leave to remain/settlement; entry clearance applications; bail/temporary admission; Third Country matters, challening removal; statelessness challenges; unlawful detention and compensation claims and no recourse to public funds challenges.
I have significant experience in dealing with matters that include; challenging unlawful delays of the Home Office; challenging the Immigration Tribunal by way of judicial review, Statutory Appeals (in the Court of Appeal) and challenging the refusals of Human rights claims by way of judicial review and challenging the refusal of a right of appeal.
I represent clients both publicly and privately funded. I frequently draft submissions on costs on behalf of clients involved in litigation and deal with applications for Exceptional Case Funding which secures Legal Aid for matters that otherwise are not covered.
I place a particular emphasis on listening to my clients’ problems/issues and then advise them how best to achieve their goals, in line with their best interests. I operate an open-door policy for clients and prospective clients and always make time to listen and help; which in turn enables me to build up a valuable rapport with clients.
I am accredited with the Law Society Immigration & Asylum Accreditation Scheme as a Level 2 Senior Caseworker - this enables me to undertake a wider range of work for a broader client base including clients who are vulnerable.
