David Head and Louise Taft, senior Employment Solicitors with Duncan Lewis and leading members of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee, had given a talk on Redundancy back in May 2011 that was so popular Law Works asked them to come back and deliver another session and received excellent reviews.
Law Works is a pro bono group providing free legal advice to individuals and community groups who cannot pay or access Legal Aid. With the proposed cuts to civil Legal Aid, it is envisaged that their services will be increasingly called upon.
Law Works also provide free training for volunteer lawyers and advisors to give them the confidence to provide advice in their free legal clinics. Many of the lawyers volunteering specialise in areas of law rarely seen by free legal clinics and use these training sessions to get up to date in the areas that can really help people. Duncan Le
The October session was attended by a number of City based solicitors and trainees wanting to hear more about how to advise an employee who has been made redundant or threatened with redundancy.
