Umar graduated from De Montfort University, Leicester, in 2006 with an LLB Hons degree. He completed The Legal Practice Course in 2007 at The College of Law, London Bloomsbury.

Umar joined Duncan Lewis Solicitors in February 2010 as a caseworker in the Welfare Benefits department at the Dalston branch. Previously he was the London region coordinator for the UK Youth Parliament (UKYP) from May 2007 until January 2010, having been the youngest coordinator in its history. His role was to work with elected members of youth parliament (aged 11-18) across London to help facilitate them making a change through campaigns and projects that make a difference to young people locally, regionally and nationally.

He was attracted to Duncan Lewis Solicitors because of its reputation in publicly funded work and the commitment it has towards developing its employees.

Umar is a caseworker who deals with welfare benefits matters, assisting clients in appeals and applications that they make in respect of this. In his previous role, Umar assisted young people in applying for benefits.

Umar is an Alumni of the UK Youth Parliament and is also involved with the British Council's Global Changemakers Project , in which he is one of ten UK based Global Changemakers where he works with young people to create projects to benefit them in other parts of the world.

In his spare time, Umar has a keen interest in travelling, together with reading, comedy cinema and theatre. He enjoys watching football and occasionally playing.
