Meryll qualified as a Solicitor in 2001 and has been a member of the Law Society Mental Health Review Tribunal Panel since 2001. Only Solicitors who meet the Law Society’s exacting accreditation requirements are permitted to join the panel. He is also a member of the Mental Health Lawyers Association. Since being in legal practice, she has worked mainly with mentally disordered offenders and some criminal appeals where mental health is an issue. At present she has a mixed caseload, including work with mentally disordered both in civil and offender matters.

Her case load includes consideration of multiple issues including, but not limited to, that of Asperger's disorders, learning difficulties, personality disorders. She represents clients at Mental Health Review Tribunals, Hospital Managers' Hearings and Care Programme Approach meetings, as well as visiting them regularly.

Meryll has also been involved in many Judicial Review cases taken on behalf of clients on legal issues relating to their detention.

Meryll is an Advocate who endeavours to represent clients personally throughout their proceedings. She has a determination and commitment to ensuring that client receive all round support to facilitate their discharge including liasing with social welfare departments, advocates in hospitals and professionals involved in the clients case.
