Louise Salmon was admitted as a Solicitor in 1990, having undertaken her training in Stoke-on-Trent. She was then employed in conveyancing/probate departments for 10 years.
Louise has been working in the world of Mental Health for almost 11 years. She has been a Member of the Law Society's Mental Health Review Tribunal Panel since 2001. This membership is renewable every 3 years and only solicitors who meet exacting accreditation requirements are permitted to join/rejoin the Panel. Louise is also a member of the Mental Health Lawyers' Association.
Louise gained her Mental Health experience at Nowell Meller in Stafford for over 10 years on a part-time basis. She has represented clients all over the West Midlands area. Louise joined Duncan Lewis in November 2010 as a Consultant. Louise plans to continue with her current client base across the West Midlands and to develop it further, as she will now be working full time.
Louise Salmon is experienced in representation of clients at Hospital Managers' Hearings, Renewal Hearings and at Mental Health Tribunals. She has represented clients who are detained under Sections 2, 3, 37, 37/41, 47/49 and 48/49 of the Mental Health Act 1983, as amended by the Mental Health Act 2007. Louise is also experienced in representing clients who have been recalled to Prison, if they have mental health issues. My clients are detained in conditions of open, low and medium security.
Louise has represented a broad range of clients, from adolescents aged 13 years up to elderly clients in their 80's. She has experience of representing clients with eating disorders, both young and old and those who have a learning disability. Louise has a good rapport with all of her clients; some who have frequent admissions to Hospital and who return to her for advice on a regular basis.
Louise has given talks and presentations to local community groups including; Alzheimer's' Café; Carers Support Groups and Rehabilitation Groups.
Louise is a mother of two boys, aged 16 and 11. Louise supports them as much as possible in their respective adventures through life. In her spare time, she is a Beaver Scout Leader; Louise has just gained her "Wood Badge" Leader qualification and is currently working towards her "Nights Away" Permit, which will allow her to take Beaver Scouts away on a 24 hour sleepover. Louise is also a keen dinghy and keelboat sailor. She likes walking, keeping fit and going to the gym.
