Veejay qualified as a Solicitor in November 2005 and joined Duncan Lewis in August 2006 in the Immigration team at the Harrow on the Hill office. He is a Head of Department and Supervisor. He achieved his Masters in Law, LLM in 2007 in the area of commercial arbitration and dispute resolution. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Law in the area of international human rights law.
Veejay is qualified under the Law Society’s Immigration & Asylum Accreditation Scheme as a Senior Caseworker and Supervisor, which allows him to specialise in Immigration & Nationality law and provide specialist legal help for publicly funded work under the firm’s Legal Services Commission franchise.
Veejay has Higher Rights of Audience and has successfully represented clients at the appeal stage for both their initial and reconsideration hearings at the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal.
Veejay specialises in asylum and immigration matters including appeals against deportation, Entry Clearance, human rights and European Union applications.
He provides pro-bono work in assisting charities in the UK in developing their Constitution and Contractual agreements with service providers.
Veejay is a founding member of the Kindness in Communities Group, which works with members of the community of a variety of ethnic origins in need of advice and assistance.
He recently returned from his tour of India working with Indian Advocates in human rights law. He was invited on a Panel to assist in the development of Human Rights in India at the University of Mumbai. He intends to develop a forum for open dialogue between Indian and UK Human Rights Lawyers and practitioners.
He has also been appointed as a team leader in the Serve Africa Building Bridges project of the Brahma Kumaris University involving values education and kindness in communities. He will be touring Africa later this year to link with communities that support children and families.
