Alice Boyle - Director and Solicitor and joint Head of the Immigration team at the Dalston office.

Alice qualified as a Solicitor in January 2000 and joined Duncan Lewis & Co in October 2005, becoming a Director in January 2007.

She is qualified under the Law Society's Immigration & Asylum Accreditation Scheme as a Senior Caseworker and Supervisor (Level 2). She has wide experience in asylum and immigration law. Her work is concentrated on publicly funded clients with a particular focus on asylum seekers and other vulnerable immigrants with terminal illnesses and/or severe mental health conditions. She regularly represents clients at the Immigration Tribunal at all stages of the appeal process.

In 2005, Alice completed a Masters in Refugee Studies at the University of East London. During her masters she concentrated on international human rights and international refugee law, the role of humanitarian assistance in complex emergencies, international adoption in Russia and Romania and the detention of UK asylum seekers. Her dissertation focussed on human trafficking amongst IDPs in Georgia (the Caucasus).

In autumn 2008, Alice spent 3 months on secondment working for the Danish Refugee Council in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Her role was to work with the Head of the Refugee section at the Ministry of Labour, specifically to train government officials on international refugee law and best practice asylum procedure. The secondment also included organizing and speaking about UK asylum law at a seminar in Dushanbe for 40 judges from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Alice is a trustee for the charity Friends of Aschiana (which looks after street children in Kabul) www.friendsofaschiana.org.uk. She has a basic working knowledge of German, French and Russian.
