Bernadette graduated in law at the University of Warwick where she obtained an LLB Hons degree. Thereafter Bernadette successfully completed the Legal Practice Diploma Course at BBP Law School. Bernadette was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Courts of England & Wales on 1 July 2005.
Bernadette came to work for Duncan Lewis on 20 September 2008. She did her traineeship as a solicitor in the Firm of Hereward and Foster Solicitors and she qualified in the areas of Housing Law, Welfare Benefits and Personal Injury.
Prior to qualifying as a solicitor Bernadette worked as a volunteer advisor in Housing Law with Shelterline (a homeless charity) providing advice to callers facing homelessness, possession proceedings and other landlord and tenant related issues.
Since qualifying as a solicitor Bernadette has specialised in the areas of Homelessness and Judicial Review as well as Possession Proceedings and Public Law remedies.
In 2006 Bernadette moved to Thomas Law (now Hartnells) where she continued to work in the area of Housing Law and she was the solicitor with the conduct of the case of London Borough of Southwark -v- Onayomake (2008) in the Court of Appeal, reported on Lawtel, the Law Society Gazette and Legal Action. That case overturned the decision of the County Court striking out the Defendant's defence to the claim for possession of his home because of an error on the part of his then legal advisor. Bernadette continues to specialise in Housing Law with Duncan Lewis providing advice to Single Homeless Projects, Domestic Violence Units.
