Ahmar Mahmood Awan joined Duncan Lewis in April 2008 as a Caseworker in the Housing and Welfare Benefits departments in Hackney.
Ahmar obtained an LLB (Hons) degree from Thames Valley University in 2003 and is currently undertaking the part-time LPC at Westminster University. He has previously worked as a Volunteer with the Citizens Advice Bureau and was working with Burke Niazi Solicitors before moving to Duncan Lewis.
He has 6 years of experience of working in legal aid work. He has extensive experience of social housing, welfare benefits and debt work. He has assisted client's with homelessness, possession cases, with negotiating repayment non-priority debts and with welfare benefit appeals.
Ahmar is committed to legal aid and particularly enjoys working on homelessness and possession cases.
Ahmar’s ambition is to qualify as a solicitor, and hopes that Duncan Lewis will provide him with the opportunity. Ahmar was attracted to the firm due to the wide range of legal aid work the firm undertakes.
Out side of work Ahmar has an interest in current affairs and history. he also enjoys reading and sports with particular interest in football and cricket.
