Duncan Lewis, Family Solicitors, Spurned lover denies murdering ex he stabbed to death in the street

A court has heard how a nurse was repeatedly stabbed by her former lover, who stalked her after she ended their relationship.

London newspaper the Evening Standard reports that 42-year-old mother-of-two Naudel Turner began an affair with her 47-year-old married lover after meeting him at the Castle View GP Surgery in Tottenham, north London, where she worked part-time as a practice nurse. She had lived with her husband until 2009, when the couple became estranged.

Isleworth Crown Court heard that Mrs Turner ended the relationship with her lover, after Dariusz Miakienko became obsessive. She then started a relationship with the practice manager at the surgery, Kevin McDonald.

She had helped Miakienko rent a flat in Lordship Lane in Tottenham, however – but text messages between the two showed that their relationship had soured. The court heard that, although Miakienko had a wife and children living in Poland, he had believed Mrs Turner would leave her husband for him and they would eventually marry.

Miakienko began stalking Mrs Turner after their relationship ended, however – and followed her from work on 19 March before attacking her in a street in Bruce Grove, north London.

Mr McDonald had met Miakienko at the surgery the day before the attack – and had advised Mrs Turner to call the police as he felt he was “dangerous”.

On the day of her death, Mrs Turner left the surgery and witnesses said that as she walked along, she did not appear to acknowledge she was being followed – although she must have been aware of it as it was Mrs Turner who eventually turned round and confronted Miakienko.

The court heard that she told him to leave her alone and shouted at him, before getting out her mobile phone and trying to make a call.

Miakienko then grabbed her by the arm and she slapped him. He pushed her against a fence and attacked her with a kitchen knife, the court heard. Even when Mrs Turner fell to the ground, the defendant carried on stabbing her.

The prosecution told the jury that a motorist tried to intervene and pleaded with Miakienko to stop his attack on Mrs Turner, shouting, “Don’t kill her.”

“The stabbing was methodic,” the jury was told. “It was extremely violent. It was remorseless and it was prolonged.”

When Miakienko had finished his attack on her, he allegedly took out his mobile phone and started to make a call, with one witness claiming that he then rolled a cigarette.

He was restrained by passersby – including an off-duty police officer – until other police officers arrived at the scene.

Mrs Turner died in an ambulance on her way to hospital, the jury was told.

Miakienko denies one count of murder.

The trial continues.
