Ritu graduated from Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London, with LLB Hons in 2000 and went on to undertake the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law.
Ritu joined Duncan Lewis in May 2009 as a solicitor in the Child Care department at its Harrow office. She is a member of the Law Society, Law Society Children Panel Accreditation Scheme, Middlesex Law Society and Association of Lawyers for Children.
Since qualifying as a solicitor in 2004, Ritu has specialised in the law relating to children and has been instructed in a number of complex and high profile cases. Ritu represents parents, grandparents and other associate people in public law proceedings involving applications for Care Orders, Supervision Orders, Emergency Protection Orders and Placement Orders. She also represents clients within private law proceedings relating to Residence, Contact, Parental Responsibility, Prohibited Steps and Specific Issue Orders as well as within cases relating to child abduction and Rule 9.5 Appointments. Ritu also assists clients in obtaining orders on an emergency basis, to include protective orders such as Non-Molestation and Occupation Orders.
Ritu represents both publicly funded and private clients. She assists clients locally as well as further a field and is motivated to help people at what can be a very stressful time and resolve matters successfully and as quickly as possible. Ritu has undertaken pro-bono work by providing advice in relation to family matters. Ritu is also actively involved in raising money for Cancer Research.
