Child Care

Laila joined Duncan Lewis in June 2003. She set up and developed the Child Care department at the Hackney and Clapham Junction offices, which she heads and successfully manages. The department encompasses solicitors, trainee solicitors and caseworkers. Laila is also involved in training and supervision of the department and continues to practise.

Laila has been committed to practising in children and family law since qualifying as a Solicitor in 1997. She specialises in representation of parents, children’s guardians and children in all Children Act matters.

Laila's practise covers special guardianship orders, care orders, supervision orders and emergency protection orders, adoption within the UK and overseas and child abduction. She advises clients to attend Child Protection Conferences and she also acts in residence, contact, specific issues and prohibited steps applications.

Laila is a member of the Law Society’s Children Panel - Children Representative. Only Solicitors who meet the Law Society’s exacting accreditation requirements are permitted to join the panel. She is an experienced advocate with Higher Rights of Audience, entitling her to represent her clients at all levels of Courts. She is also a member of the Association of Lawyers for Children and Resolution.
