Genet graduated from Birkbeck University in 2007 with a 2:1 Honours degree in Law. She then went on to do her Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in London successfully completing in 2010.

During her LPC, Genet volunteered for numerous pro-bono activities that she found intriguing and rewarding. She undertook pro-bono work at the Royal Court's of Justice Advice Bureau where she assisted in providing practice advice on a range of matters.

Genet is a member of the Law Society and a student member of Resolution.

Genet joined Duncan Lewis as an intern in August 2011 and worked in the busy Family Department at the firms Shepherds Bush Branch. She was subsequently offered a permanent position at Duncan Lewis.

Genet was attracted to Duncan Lewis because of their commitment to publicly funded work and the wide-ranging areas of practice. She was excited about the opportunity to work for the biggest Legal Aid provider in the country, as she has always been keen to work in this sector. She had always hoped to specialise in Family and Child Care Law since studying it during he LPC and developing an interest in the area.

Genet aspires to commence her training contract at Duncan Lewis, become a fully accredited solicitor and become a child panel member of the Law Society.

In her spare time, Genet enjoys music of all genres, travelling, keeping fit, and spending time with family.

Genet is fluent in Amharic.
