Shany qualified in 1996 and practised as a Litigation/ Public Law Solicitor for over 8 years.
 
In 1998 he set up Duncan Lewis and as C.E.O is now involved in the day to day management and direction of the Company. The Company originally operated from one office specialising in only four areas of practice and has, under his direction, grown to become the largest supplier of Public Funded work  in the UK with over 400 staff  in six different locations of London  and the Home Counties.  The firm now provides services in 18 practice areas and represents over 20,000 clients per annum.
 
In 2005, Shany launched the firm on an aggressive growth path while at the same time recognising that improved efficiency and cost control were essential elements for a healthy Legal Aid practice. He was instrumental in the embryonic growth of the back office infrastructure of the Company through its outsourcing partners in India. He spearheaded the setting up of the Legal Process Outsourcing Centre in India , which today employs more than 400 staff. The outsourcing centre today handles a large part of the administrative function of the Company.
 
His focus is on creating and maintaining the efficient high quality integrated delivery of the firm's services to the public.  Shany has more recently been involved in developing close ties with legal practices in India, with a view to building a strong commercial association. Shany's contribution to commerce in London was recognised when Asian Voice & Gujrat Samachar presented him The Asian Achiever's Award (Professional) for 2004.
 
Shany is currently an active member of the International Lawyers’ Association, Asian Lawyers Association UK and an executive member of the Managing Partners Association.
