Yes. Duncan Lewis Solicitors has a contract to represent detainees in Immigration Removal Centres (IRCs), however there are at any one time up to 500 women and men held in prisons under immigration powers.
Immigration detainees in prison are not permitted a mobile phone or internet access and face significant obstacles accessing lawyers, charities, and Home Office caseworkers. They are also not afforded the same safeguards as those in immigration detention centres.
There may be circumstances in which you are not suitable for detention in a prison, and we can consider your case in the context of the rules and policies on this matter in order to advise on whether or not we can challenge your detention. If, for whatever reason, it would be difficult to secure your release from detention, we may be able to secure your transfer to a detention centre instead.
