A young boy has died following an incident in Topshop at the Oracle Shopping Centre in Reading. 10 year old Kaden Reddick was shopping with his Aunt when he suffered serious head injuries from a falling display near the tills in the store. The accident was caused by heavy white barriers where customers queue for the till, these tend to contain various accessories and sweets.
Paramedics attended the scene and treated him as he lay on the floor before being taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital where he was confirmed dead. His aunt said:
“He had an infectious personality and the world is now truly missing the sweetest boy it could have asked for.”
As the incident happened on retail premises, the local council are responsible for the health and safety. Police continue to investigate his death and are working closely with the local authority to gather information on how the accident happened.
