Hull Crown Court has sentenced a man who pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order, putting his former partner in fear of violence, assault by beating and dangerous driving.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said that forty-three-year-old Jonathan Hunt had previously used a number of aliases, including Lynx Caan.

Hunt also had previous convictions, including rapes, threatening behaviour, possessing a knife and harassment.

On Monday 6 March 2017, Hull Crown Court sentenced Hunt to three years in jail for attacks and threats made to his ex-partner. The court also imposed a restraining order indefinitely and a driving disqualification for three years and six months.

After sentencing, the CPS’s Senior Crown Prosecutor from Yorkshire and Humberside, Dawn Birkett, said:

“Jonathan Hunt clearly poses a very serious danger to women – he is a coward and a bully, who has terrorised his former partner with extremely violent threats and intimidation, as well as physical assaults, after he would not accept that their relationship was over. I would like to commend her for her bravery in coming forward and giving evidence against him, which means that Hunt is now facing a substantial prison sentence. I hope this is of some comfort to her and an encouragement to any victims of domestic abuse to report any matters to the police. Crimes of violence against women a very high priority for the CPS – and we will prosecute all such cases with vigour.”
