11 years PQE. Vicash is now in his second spell at Duncan Lewis as a Director of Immigration Business, having previously left the company to join KPMG’s Legal Services Team last year. Vicash is accredited as a Level 2 caseworker with the OISC and has had extensive experience in the field, having worked with another ‘Big Four’ accountancy firm and other Tier 2 ‘Legal 500’ practises specialising in Business Immigration. He has drawn on his experience working with Fortune 100 companies and high net worth individuals in order to provide technical expertise on complex applications under the Points Based System (PBS) including all aspects of Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 4 Applications Vicash’s work with Indian based SMEs was highlighted in the 2012 edition of Legal 500 and this remains an important target market to the firm.

He often assists small/medium sized companies with the process of licensing and compliance under the Sponsorship Management System and has assisted companies facing criminal/civil penalties in relation to illegal working. Vicash is routinely approached to advise High Net Worth individuals under the Tier 1 Entrepreneur and Investor scheme and works closely with a number of private banks in relation to providing personalised immigration solutions for mutual clients and their dependant families. Migrants employed by the NHS and in the private healthcare sector have also remained a focus of the department with Vicash able to successfully negotiate the removal of the restriction on ‘training as a doctor ‘for a Tier 1 migrant. Teachers and social workers in the public sector have sought his advice in relation to Tier 2 further leave applications. In 2012, Vicash assisted, a senior embryologist and primary school teacher, both Tier 2 General skilled workers, in their successful applications, for indefinite leave to remain, despite the complexity of the applications and breaks in continuous residence, Vicash has provided talks on the Points Based System to employers, attending recruitment fares and has spoken at the prestigious Royal Institute of Architects on the effects of the PBS and provides in-house training. He has participated in global immigration seminars, advising on compliance issues facing companies seeking to establish themselves in the UK.

He remains keenly involved with student migrants providing seminars at leading universities including Royal Holloway, London University, Kent University and Surrey University on the latest developments of the PBS systems and the effect on Tier 4 Migrants. Vicash also remains focused on providing audit compliance advice to Tier 4 Sponsors, especially universities and colleges in the wake of the recent London Metropolitan University decision. He has also contributed to articles for international students on working in the UK as well as a PBS commentary on the leading independent political website.

Vicash appeared before a Parliamentary Select Committee to provide witness evidence on the Points Based System and its current efficiency which was televised on the BBC Democracy and Parliament UK channels. His description of the UKBA’s advice line as ‘hit and miss’ was quoted in several online articles
